November 13, 2018- 3 days over my due date, no real signs of labor… Haha! 3 DAYS! Felt more like 3 weeks overdue. This pregnancy took a much bigger toll on my body and I was feeling HUGE and tired and some pretty bad pain in my pelvic area too.
Around 8:20 PM, I had my first contraction, not really knowing if it was actually a contraction or not. (With Indie, my water just broke before any contractions, so this was new to me). But about 5 min later another one… 5 min later another one… so I told Chance I thought I was having contractions. They were already painful and consistent. We both looked at the clock and thought “noooooo!”. As much as I was done being pregnant, we really didn’t prefer to have the another “middle of the night” baby. After an hour and a half of consistent contractions we decided that we would get ready and go to the hospital. Indie was out in the trailer sleeping, so we brought her inside to Taylen’s room and put her back to bed in there. My contractions varied in intensity, but there were some strong enough that I had to stop walking to get through it.
The hospital is really close, but the care ride was torture. Sooo bumpy! The hospital let me in and I just said, “I’m pretty sure I’m in labor!” My contractions were only 2 min at this point (about 10:30 PM). I got dressed in the hospital gown and they put monitors on me, then the IV. Last time I had to be stuck 3 times, and this time it was 2 times! The worst!!
Finally I was all set and they checked my dilation. The nurse just had this surprised look on her face and said “I’d say you’re a six!”. I was also shocked! My contractions were strong, but definitely tolerable, so I didn’t think I was going to be that far along.
This time around, things seemed to be a calmer. There weren’t very many people around. Just me and Chance, and one nurse. With Indie, it was me and Chance and my parents and it seemed like 4 or 5 nurses in and out haha! My mom was on her way, but she wasn’t there yet (it was like a 2 hour drive). My contractions were getting more intense and about an hour later I was at a 9 and they called my doctor!
Contractions still got stronger and I started yelling/screaming through some of them… I decided on no epidural again! I don’t remember if I even thought about it this time. Things were happening so quickly! I also felt pretty in control for the most part. I remember that my hands started feeling tingly and tensing up, and one hand was holding Chance’s and my other hand was super uncomfortable being all tensed up so I asked my sweet nurse if she would hold my hand, haha, bless her heart!
My water broke and shortly after, it was time to push! Queue the screaming again! Guys, I’m just a screamer I guess. I got Nubane again, and that stuff really works for me. Helps me relax between contractions so much that I could fall asleep. After about an hour it was crazy intense and lots of pain and pushing. When I had Indie, all of her came out on one push, but this baby came a little at a time….. and that was very painful. I remember being pretty spastic and it’s funny to think of it now hahahahaha! Well finally my baby came! I was so relieved! The cord was too short for her to be put on me right away, so we waited a few minutes, Chance cut the cord and we did skin to skin. Oh yeah! It’s a GIRL! I was shocked! We had our skin to skin and then they took her to get her weight and measurement, etc.
I was EXHAUSTED. I couldn’t get my eyes to stay open! And my body was still in some pain too. They asked me if I wanted to hold her and I said not yet. Isn’t that kind of terrible! I was just so tired and in pain, I needed a few minutes. My mom got there about 30 min later and seriously I couldn’t keep my eyes open.
Finally I was feeling well enough to hold her and get a really good look at her. And really take in that she was a girl!
My Luna Lynn Young, born November 14, 2018, 8 lbs 13 oz (my big girl!!), 21 inches long. And ya know what? She got a 10/10 on her apgar testing. My perfect angel!!
It was kinda fun to feel like I totally knew what I was doing this time around. We stayed through Wednesday night and left Thursday morning. Such a quick stay! Time is so weird when you have a baby.
We are so happy to have our Luna here. We have been so anxious to meet her and we are loving having her as a part of our family of four!
Birth is such a crazy experience and I’m so thankful to have safe deliveries and healthy babies. I’m so thankful to have Chance by my side helping me through it all. Always counting through the contractions with me, keeping me focused and feeling like I can do anything. I love him so much!
Welcome to the family Luna Lynn!
